.Fox News hysterical nutter
Theres a lot of talk about the dangerous right wing element in US
media, but when i watch fox news i usually just get a kind of uneasy
feeling that i cant pin down.
Here, though, is something you can point at and go 'here it is, this
guy is hysterical and stupid.' A lot of what he says is just plain
wrong. 'the BBC is anti america' is rubbish, but he says it like its
proven fact.
THEYRE NOT ANTI AMERICA, THEYRE ANTI DICKHEADS LIKE YOU!
and whats all this about brits saying they can report the
news better than anyone?? Maybe he got ignored at the journo
convention by some bbc guys he tried to talk to.
Yes Gilligan lied, yes he made an idiot of himself in iraq
[apparently, i watched loads of BBC coverage and never saw/heard him]
Yes the bbc middle management and governors refused to admit
he lied, because they didnt want to be seen being pushed
around by the government. Yes the BBC tends to favor a
slight anti US/Israel line. Yes BBC journalists are less patriotic
than FOX ones.
the thing is, i can see exactly where he is coming from.
why not be patriotic? why not be passionate and give
your own opinions as a journalist.
hmmm im just... uneasy. Blind patriotism is very very dangerous.
X10 more dangerous than blind _criticism_ of government.
[oo im so pleased with that point, ill repeat it]
Unquestioning support of status quo/regime is much much
much more dangerous than unfounded criticism of it.
