i find this incredibly soothing.

I'd like to talk about films. These days
i watch a lot.
Battle Royal II is the worst of the 100
or so dvds ive bought so far, and the
only one I fast forwarded through. The
setting is an infantile live action
version of Counter Strike, the acting is
like something out of an opera, and the
movie has the cheek to take itself
seriously. I bet even the fucked up
japanese twelve year old target market
thought it was shit.
Most movies I buy seem to be in the 'yeah
it was pretty good' catagory. Maybe ill
list all the films in this category
later. FOR FUN.

The only ones that shone out were Edward
Scissorhands, and a Korean film called
'Drunk on Poetry and Women'(Chinese title
醉画仙).
I read somewhere that the character
Edward is how Director Tim Burton sees
himself.
I get annoyed every time I see the
gossiping women. They are so evil.
'Drunk on Poetry and Women' I like mostly
for the amazing period detail and
direction. It's about a famous
calligrapher, and set in 19th century
Korea so i can get off on my imperial
China fetish. (because things look really Chinese)
The central character, this calligrapher,
is so well defined that I kept thinking
about him after the film.
I also I liked the portrayal of small
scale ordinary life in the historical
setting. It made me think about the
passing of time, and wonder what this guy
would think about certain things. Ive
never seen a film like it.

Harbin Ice Festival: Snow and Ice World
(冰雪大世界)
Argh my eyes! There are ice sculptures
in several places in the city, many of
them beautiful. This place went for big
and neon.
This picture was taken from the Great
Wall replica, which doubles as a rather
violent ice slide.
Snow and ice covered the ground, and all
the stairs were made of ice (some covered
with a bit of carpet). I fell over 4 times.
There was a raised platform almost like
an aztec pyramid, with a flashing neon ice
dancefloor and huge speakers blasting out
Happy House. Girls in matching warm coats
danced in shifts on three podiums. A
surprising number of people were trying
to dance.
Looking back, that dancefloor would have
been the perfect surface for an MJ style
moonwalk. Ah well, maybe next time.

I need somebody to tell me how to live.
I look down on religious people as narrow minded - suppressing logic in order to feel good. And yet the question of religion keeps nagging me. Should I suppress God in order to feel logical?
