Does my poor vocabulary restrict what I can think about? Does language just help with the organisation of ideas, or is it essential to the birth (imagining, conceiving)and then the understanding of the idea? http://peccavi.blogspot.com knows more words than me. does that mean he can think things i cant grasp? If language is so important, how can people who think in different languages ever truely communicate? Does the structure of the Chinese language automatically make you think in a certain way? Are all our thoughts trapped within the constraints of language? - no. What about music, painting, dance? "music really is the universal language"- arrgGHH ive heard that too many times. headache. anyway, the arts are about feelings, not ideas - right? Maybe a feeling is a thought you cant express in words.
