.Rights for Cute Animals!
http://marxist-org-uk.blogspot.com/
"we reject the irrational myth of “animal rights”,
which can be “exercised” only by a self-selected
set of human beings on behalf of other, also
selected, animals. It deserves no more respect from
us than, say, astrology or feng-shui, with which it
shares a defensive esotericism, a reliance on
self-appointed "experts" and an imperviousness to
reason."

.Rich and deep culture is very lucky!
This Guardian article sums up everything about China that I have no
interest in.
'... my mobile phone rang.."Happy Chinese New Year, Xinran. How many
monkeys are there in the Chinese lunar calendar in the whole of
Chinese history?" I have no idea. I feel lost in my rich and deep
culture again.'
Memorising dates? is it a wooden monkey or a water monkey? Is this
really Chinese culture?
This article reminded me about how many Chinese seemed obsessed with
pointless little acts/objects that are 'lucky'.
'this color is lucky'
'eat this, its lucky'
'touch this wall, its lucky'
'dont say that, its unlucky' [yeah i know the reason is probably
because the Chinese*bleep generalisaion alert* have lived through such
hardship that they are only too aware how they are at the mercy of
fate, so maybe this obsession with good fortune is only natural]
A Chinese teacher told me:
'i dont like temples'
'why?'
'i am a party member'
The next month, on a teachers trip to sichuan, the tour party shuffled
into a buddhist temple. They all, including said teacher, clasped
their hands together in prayer infront of buddha.
She said 'Put your hands like this. Its very lucky'
'no thanks'
'why not? itsa lucky.. good fortune! ha ha'
Anyway.. I find this whole side of Chinese culture really empty
and boring. 'We eat long noodle on a birthday because they represent
long life'. fine, that's cute, but nothing more.
I should probably say something about what i think Chinese culture
really is, or should be.. Maybe ill have an idea in a few years.
.Biscuit
McVitties Milk Chocolate Biscuits - the zenith of mankind's
long march to biscuit perfection. Proven to reduce risk of "ARRGHGHHH!!!"
(when eaten as part of a well balanced diet. eg. bananas and coffee)
-===-
Oh biscuit that is called Mc Vittie
How come to me you seem so pretty?
With coffee, you I long to taste;
With bananas too, all interlaced.
The bestest snack in all of Britain
And by royal mouths oft' bitten,
For on your wrapper i have seen
'By appointment to HM the Queen'.
